Spotless Cleaning founder Ilona Ziarko has recently celebrated the opening of her new premises in Newham, Truro. After a long journey of hard work, support and funding, Spotless Cleaning is now ready to take on new business.
Spotless Cleaning created a presence in Cornwall by filling a gap in the market through the delivery of a thorough, personalised cleaning service that set them apart from the competition. In order to grow, the business required a unit with a well-equipped office combined area, as well as industrial cleaning equipment and vehicles.
With the help of Business Finance Specialist Jackie George at Oxford Innovation’s Access to Finance programme, Ilona felt empowered to apply for funding that would help her grow her business. Spotless Cleaning received funding to enable that growth, including a SWIG loan of £55k, and a LEADER grant of £18,950 that enabled Ilona to buy her new laundry equipment.
“A few years ago, I lost my job, so I started cleaning and doing any work that I could get regardless of money. I have an eye for detail and I love cleaning and so I started to really enjoy the work. Eventually, I got a contract with a holiday let company, so I began looking after more properties and built a good reputation.
“When I started this business, I did everything myself from my home. It was three years of solid hard work. Along the way, I met people from Oxford Innovation who encouraged me to apply for funding. At first, I wasn’t sure I could manage, but I quickly learned that I could take ownership of the project. I developed a business plan and came up with a vision, and I started to feel more inspired and determined.”

This funding will allow Spotless Cleaning to evolve into a growing company which can increase employee numbers and looking to promote laundry services and are ready to take new laundry contracts from other businesses and subcontractors.
